Of pashu pakshi...

Some Conversations:
Me: What do you dream of possessing after 5-10yrs from now?
Freind:Palatial house, sleek car, mobile with all state of the art features, digital camera, etc... etc..
I : How about a dog?
Friend: Hmmm I dont know... actually no..

On yet another occasion:
Friend(who just returned from US): I visited one my couterparts' residence there. He introduced me to his family- wife, daughter, 2 dogs, 3 cats, a snake & a parrot. He asked me to touch the snake claiming that it wasnt poisonous. Not that I dint believe him when he said it was non-poisonous, but Eeeks how could I touch a snake?

Not that I would have reacted differently on the two occasions... But this somehow pricked me, imagine how would it feel if you know that someone fears you & finds it disgusting to even touch you. And this exactly how those animals we fear actually feel.
I would have loved to talk about this in more depth but the poem 'Snake'- D.H.Lawrence does it better than anyone else can. So here it is http://www.cs.rice.edu/~ssiyer/minstrels/poems/1282.html
Im no animal activist, but badly wanted to write about this...
